Easy, all-natural recipes for fall and winter potpourri

54511450_SThe fall and winter seasons are the perfect time for wonderful traditional treats like gingersnap cookies, cinnamon rolls, and apple cider. If you’re someone that doesn’t bake a lot but loves the familiar smells of the season, we have good news for you: it’s easy to make your own stove-top potpourris that you can set and forget. Your family members and guests will think you’ve been baking all day!

For all of these recipes, simmer 2-3 cups of water on the stovetop, then simply add in the ingredients. Let it simmer on the lowest setting possible, and watch the water level, adding more if needed.

Apple Crisp – To your water add a few apple slices, two cinnamon sticks (broken in half), a slice of lemon, and a splash of vanilla.

Gingerbread House – Simmer water, then add 10 thin slices of ginger, one cinnamon stick (broken in half), and one teaspoon of vanilla.

Christmas Potpourri – Add a few orange sections, two cinnamon sticks (broken in half), 1/2 cup cranberries, a few cloves, and some nutmeg into a pot of simmering water. Instant holiday cheer!

Evergreen Dream – This spicy mixture includes a few cinnamon sticks (broken in half), 2-3 drops of peppermint extract, and a sprig or two of pine (or rosemary if you can’t find pine).
